Everyone is different. I am happy to keep my arrangements flexible to help everyone into their wedding photography comfortably. For the most part it's best to meet up if we can. We can meet online or talk on the phone if meeting up is not convenient. It's helpful to make sure we are a good match. Once we have decided to work together I ask 50% of the package you are interested in to book the date and the other 50% on or before the wedding date. I also ask we put a contract together that basically says I will be there for your wedding photography and you will pay the amount of the package.

Location scouting,
I find it is helpful to be comfortable in knowing my surroundings on the wedding day. It helps me feel more comfortable in my work knowing I am photographing with the best locations and using the best light for the given situation. Some wedding venues I have been to many times and the location has been scouted at many events in the past. Some wedding venues are not possible to scout in advance. If it is not possible to view the venue ahead I would arrive a little early to make sure I was familiar with all of the areas we will be in on the wedding day. Location scouting is not always possible. I do find it can be helpful. Location scouting is always included in any package.
For this wedding at Ranch at the Canyons all of the wedding vendors had a walk though together in the early spring. It can be helpful to see the space before the event. Sometimes a bit of time to think about the event space can let some good ideas begin to flow

Extra gear and light stands are all tucked away for easy access during the reception without moving back and forth through the parking lot.

Begging the wedding day photography,
I usually stop in to say hello to everyone first. Checking in to make sure all is well and spirits are high. Sometimes it is important to prioritize or change the plan quickly!

I usually begin my wedding day photography with photos of things like the wedding dress and jewelry. Photos of people pinning boutonnières and tying neckties are all help to tell a great story. Bridesmaids having some fun relaxing with a drink after all the work of getting ready is complete. Photographing the final portions of putting the wedding dress and suit in place tell a very good story about the wedding day. Lots of great feelings here. Each wedding will have a different timeline and set of events that will happen naturally. The best thing is to wait for the events and photograph them as they happen. Very little in the way of sculpting or asking people to pose is necessary. Perhaps asking for a smile every now and again or moving around for the best light is the proper approach for the documentary wedding photographer.

Thousands of images are taken at most weddings. They need to be organized, edited, color corrected, touched up, cropped, uploaded to your server for download.
First the bad photos are removed, accidentally clicking the shutter, blinked eyes. turned heads. All these errors needs to go.
Curating the collection to begin. Each time I raise my camera the subject is photographed a handful of times at least. The best of these images is to remain and the rest must go.
Correcting the light. Without getting too technical. the photos need help and I am here for you with this. All the look and feel need to fall in line with the creative direction of the shoot.
Touching up the images is a light and gentle process. I can move a spot of a face or a piece of clothing. I cannot change the shape of a body. I cannot give better haircuts. These things are possible with third party retouching services. I am happy to help point you in the right direction if this becomes necessary. I have only seen two or three clients who wanted this out of 700 weddings at this point.

Wedding albums require selecting cover material, size, shape. Once we have your specs I create a rough draft based on my own best judgment. Then we go back and forth until we have a final draft. The press for your wedding album has a busy season around the holidays. Expect months at the holidays for your album to be pressed. In the summer months pressing an album and shipping out can be about two weeks.
