Opal 28 was the venue for this days wedding photography. Opal28 is by far my favorite wedding venue for small to medium size weddings in Portland Oregon. Great people! You can't go wrong.

If you notice the wedding flowers scattered through these wedding photos I think you will see how interesting and fun they are to look at. By The Bunch PDX is really helpful for creating curious flowers for your wedding. All of Rachel's work at By The Bunch really helps the wedding photography in the final results.
This is was a low light wedding from start to finish. All the wedding photography for the most part was taken with out flash. Very narrow depth of field gives a lot more light to work with on darker autumn evenings. f-stop 2.0 or better, really good lenses for wedding photography.
Getting ready photos to begin most wedding photography in Portland. These getting ready photos are all from the Opal28 venue. No need to travel far. They have several rooms for you to prepare on site that are just beautiful for wedding photography
First look Photography with the bride and groom next. We used the wedding ceremony and reception area to begin the first look. The bride and groom planned well ahead and gave themselves plenty of time for photos together. Their time and planning gave them privacy for their time taking first look photos. Most couples find a bit of privacy helpful for the first look photography.
Bridal party photos and family photos all happened next, just before guests arrive and the wedding ceremony began. Bridal party photos and family photos are really very quick for most families. Of course if you want lots of interesting photos with your maid of honer and best man just add more time. The more time you spend with your bridal party photos the greater number of quality photos will be in your final collection.
Wedding ceremony photos all happen without exception as documentary style wedding photography.
Sometimes called photojournalist wedding photography in Portland. This means everything is photographed as it happens naturally. There is no excuse for the wedding photographer to interrupt or interfere with the wedding ceremony.
This is where I stand back and photograph with a long lens to to get those close photos you see. At most weddings this is the best way for me to not be seen and collect all the important photos of the wedding.
There are some wedding ceremonies that are a little more wild and lively with people standing up and getting into the event. For example if there is no seating at an outdoor ceremony, guests may be encouraged circle in close.
Some cultures stand up and cheer to encourage the bride and groom and share their excitement. With very close guests standing up I do have to change my approach. An uninterrupted view of the bride and groom for the wedding photography is important. For this reason if the wedding guests rise or circle in I need to be forward of this in order to offer you the best wedding photography in Portland.
Cocktail hour photos are fun for getting people to loosen up and make some interesting portraits mingling getting to know each other. Short work easily. Some weddings will ask to work the family photos or bridal party photos in at this point.
Dinner Photos are usually kept to a minimum. Some photos of the table decor are fun. Some photos of the tables filled with all your family and friends are great. A few photos of the bride and groom enjoying the event and that completes what is needed here. Eating is not really photogenic. It's best to put down the camera and have a moment to eat myself.
Reception events are usually, first dances of the bride and groom, wedding toasts, wedding cake cutting, people being silly or cutting loose.
Family tradition events and special request photos are no problem. Please ask and I am happy to help with anything you like.
Formal departure or wedding send off photos are fun. Not the most common, but lots of fun to photograph. A good send off can happen early if you expect families to depart at all different times through the evening.
Some incorporate bubbles, sparklers or even nothing but a tunnel of people to run through.
