Nighttime Engagement Photos Portland Oregon
Engagement photography around Portland Oregon in the winter early evening. We began at St cupcake for coffee and cupcakes. Then we worked in a movie theater and some billiards before finding some city skyline photos after dark. Assisted with some off camera flash and a happy couple I am happy to share these engagement photos with you.

The Best Time To Shoot Is When The Sun Goes Down.
If you’re shooting outside, try to shoot when the sun goes down. This will allow you to capture the natural beauty of the stars, and lights reflected in the water. Cameras now give you plenty of light settings to work with, we don't need to use flash. It's all about style and taste.
You can take pictures at different times of day, but if you want to get some really cool shots, try taking them during after dark. This is the best times to photograph because there is less ambient light, which means you'll be able to see details in your photos. Also, the colors are much brighter than during the middle of the day.

You Can Do A Lot Of Creative Things With Low Light, or "the dark"!
There are lots of creative things you can do with low light. One of my favorites is using a tripod and remote shutter release to take photos of the starts and a portrait at the same time. It's kind of a double exposure, photographed at once. I love how the colors pop off the screen. Your couple all vibrant and bright against the dark sky filled with stars.
The best thing about shooting the city at night is that there's almost always some enough ambient light available for portraits without flash. With the newest cameras, you'll get plenty of natural light. Even if you're shooting outside in the dark, you might find yourself next to a building or other structure that provides a little bit of illumination. In those cases, you can use the ambient light to your advantage.
If you want to shoot something really cool, try taking a photo of a person holding a lit candle or sparkler. The flame casts lights the face, making it look very dramatic. Or, if you want to capture a moment between two people, set them both facing away from each other. Have one person hold a lit candle while the other stands behind him or her. When you photograph the pair, the candlelight will illuminate the faces of the subjects. Shop lights, streetlights, marquee's all offer plenty of great light.

Don't Be Afraid To Try Something Different.
If you're not sure what kind of photo you'd like to capture, try something different. You might find yourself inspired by an unusual location or subject. Or maybe we will discover a new technique that will give us beautiful photos. It's great to use the photography techniques that we know will give us great results. It's always a good idea to push the envelope a little.

There are many ways to shoot engagement photography, but there are few places where you can really experiment. When you're shooting outside, you can play around with light and shadow. You can create interesting patterns and textures. And if you want to take advantage of the natural beauty of the setting, you can set up and get to work.
I will experiment with different lighting techniques.
I am going to use natural light and try to capture some images using flash. I want to see what happens if I take a picture without the flash. I think it might be interesting to see what happens with each lens. We always want to work with the light and against it to see what works best. It's all part of the flow of the engagement shoot.
If you are into photography and interested in knowing about what I am doing I am happy to talk about the lenses and light settings I am working with. If it comforts you to have your mind on something else we can direct the conversations elsewhere. The whole point of coarse is to have fun and get some photos that really inspire.
